Overview
William Alderson, and early Bozeman pioneer, platted South Willson Avenue, making it wider than the standard street in hopes of attracting prosperous citizens who would erect and settle in fine homes. In 1883, his son Matt Alderson was the fist to erect a home of distinction that inspired others. At the time, as today, South Willson remains a street of distinction, containing a majority of historic homes of character and grandeur. The Alderson Home has enjoyed varied uses over the years. In the 1980s it was Bozeman's first Bed and Breakfast, featuring seven bedrooms, each with an en suite bath. Of late, it was a counseling center with overnight stay. It is a lovely home with substantial updating. It still retains its historic charm, period woodwork, bay window, stained glass, spacious rooms and decorative accents. Over the years this home has been occupied by dignities. The next proud owner will cherish this home as they have.
